2010 has been something of a wild ride for me. It hasn’t stopped either. I’ve just wrapped up the Volt Unplugged Tour with Chevrolet and now collaborating with Nike Women for the Make Yourself Movement. Now it’s time to but some of that energy back into SheGeeks. I’d like to introduce an important purchase I made during Black Friday and the new project that I’m working on. Your feedback will most certainly be needed.
A million reasons have blown away with the wind as to why I haven’t pursued that which I’ve spent countless months masterminding, visualizing, and apprehensively talking about it. Talking about what you ask? Conversations with Corvida, an extension of SheGeeks that explores conversations on pursing your dreams and how technology can help and even accelerate success.
Motivational Commitments
My first commitment to Conversations with Corvida is my new iMac from Best Buy (Black Friday). There’s a certain amount of pressure behind this purchase that says “it’s on!” No excuses. My second commitment is this blog post. After you tell over 7,000 subscribers and 7,000 more Twitter followers that you’re doing something. You have to do it. They’ll understand a delay, but not a quitter.
For me, these are investments in the opportunities and insights that can arise from simply talking to someone. Insights that can grow from sharing our beautiful stories that inspire and teach others in ways that institutions of higher learning completely disregard.
Have you ever been in a situation that forces you to make an immediate commitment to or see an opportunity disappear forever in an abyss of hesitance? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked away from conversations feeling so alive by the other person’s story. Sometimes, these conversations should be shared. There are so many stories that need to be told (with their permission of course). That commitment is what my new iMac represents for Conversations with Corvida.
You’ll see the icon at the top of this post when there’s a video up. They’ll be available on Youtube initially, though I’m considering Vimeo for hosting them also. I’m scheduling the launch of Conversations with Corvida for the month of January. I can’t wait!
What About SheGeeks
I’m not done with SheGeeks either. Look forward to reviews on some Mac apps that I’ve already started digging into. If you’re a Mac owner, what are some of your must have apps? I’d love to hear what you’re using. Here’s what I have installed so far:
- Google Chrome
- Firefox 4 Beta
- Things
- Socialite
- Tweetdeck
- Tweetie for Mac
- Adium
- PandoraJam
- Reeder (review coming soon)
I’ve managed to figure out many of the keyboard shortcuts that I like to use on my PC. My favorite is a desktop screen shot shortcut: cmd + shift+ 4. It allows you to select a portion of the screen, then take a picture of it. The screenshot is then saved to your desktop. Pretty handy for bloggers like myself that like to use visuals.
Don’t forget to share to share your thoughts on Conversations with Corvida.
