American Goldfinches can be found all throughout the US. In the summer, you can catch the males looking as vibrant and dapper as the male pictured here. In the winter, they lose their vibrancy by molting their body feathers. Goldfinches are voraciously vegetarian with a seed-only diet and a love for sunflowers and thistle. Plant some to attract these birds to your yard.
